• The NPA ideology and the history of independent living.

• The importance of respecting the independence of the work leader and the core principles.

• Insight into the roles and responsibilities of work leaders and assistants.

• The importance of open and good communication.

• The NPA center code of ethics.

• Confidentiality statements and the importance of confidentiality.

• Situations that might arise and options in how to respond.

• Shift arrangements, creating the shift plans and work reports.

• The role of the assistant work leader.

• Discussion


Goals of the course

• Participant gains understanding about the different roles of the work leader, assistant work leader and assistants.

• Participants gain insight into the importance of good communication and care in staff matters.

• Participants gain understanding of the NPA code of ethics 

• Participants gain base knowledge about NPA in practice.

• Participant gains knowledge about the main concepts and history of NPA.

Cost: Free for members of NPA miðstöðin and their assistants

For others: 2000kr., but 12.000kr for first aid course.

Accessibility: Fully accessible.

Catering: light refreshments will be provided during breaks.

English speaking: The course is in English.
